“What’s important to me is leaving a house for my children. That is my goal. I want to get to that point, a house. I want to get there. And I’m doing it, I’m doing it right now. So that I can leave something for my family. With your help, I’m getting there.” – HFHA loan recipient; resident of 22 de Enero
Habitat for Humanity Argentina’s Homes Fund is a collection of donations given by individuals or institutions throughout the course of one year. The donations to the Homes Funds are used at the organization’s discretion to support our work aimed at relieving the problem of inadequate housing.
We wish to express our sincerest thanks to our 2009-2010 Homes Fund donors. With resources from the Fund, we were able to provide educational workshops in family finance, legal literacy and construction to over 800 families and facilitate 5 community-wide improvements this year. In addition to the nearly 80 families that completed a progressive housing improvement, 7 families finished their houses in line with United Nations’ standards on adequate housing.
We look forward to helping even more families in the coming year. Between now and June (the end of the fiscal year), we plan to have two more Core Houses underway in Buenos Aires and two in Santa Fe. We hope to select 35 families in Buenos Aires and Luján and 7 in Santa Fe before March for our loan program, as well as assist 18 families in achieving finished housing solutions.
But much of this depends on the support of our donors! We invite you to join the Homes Fund 2010-2011; even the smallest contributions add up to help these deserving families and have a lasting impact on their lives.
