Construction began on Habitat for Humanity Argentina’s first Seed house this June 3rd with the help and partnership of Credit Suisse Argentina. With this seed house the Daniel Caro family will have a new living area attached to what is now a one-room space that serves as a home for the entire family.
The Seed house program constitutes the groundwork for a house, and with family management, can become a complete, safe, and adequate home over the course of the project; the beginning of a path to improvement of the quality of life for the family. The architectural plan for the Seed House includes a bathroom, kitchen, bedroom, roof and finishing elements that are added in stages according to the financial ability of the family. It presents a solution to families that have neither credit nor resources to access an adequate home.
Planning the stages of development and improvement is essential for the success of this program. To mitigate climatic effects the planning includes efficient use of the land with respect to vegetation and the capacity for the land to absorb water. The training workshops between professionals and homeowners result in greater knowledge and a skill set that the owners can use to complete their homes with a reasonable use of materials and energy. The seed house offers a bio-climatic design to minimize the use of artificial energy. All in all, the program offers a definitive and non-transitory solution that is healthy and safe for families.
The brigade was a success due to the help and support from Credit Suisse; soon the Daniel Caro family will have a home!
