Argentina turned 200 this May 25th, and joining the 2 million visitors that gathered in Buenos Aires for the celebration was a team of volunteers from Habitat for Humanity Argentina. They passed out Habitat postcards, met families and potential partners, answered questions, and enjoyed the beautiful weather that arrived for the celebration.
One volunteer commented that the bicentennial festivities “were a perfect place to distribute information about Habitat’s mission and projects. We reached a varied audience and at the same time participated in the celebration.” One of the focuses of the past year has been awareness and visibility of Habitat in Argentina, each step creating a stronger image and understanding of the context of housing in Buenos Aires. As citizens commemorate 200 years of Argentina, they can look forward to a future where housing is available and safe for families of all backgrounds and income levels.
